SEX, LIES & THE NEW TESTAMENT

John Stone

As usual in the New Testament, the left hand never knew what the right hand was doing. Case-in-point: the gospels date the birth of Jesus at least 10 years apart. Hey, why should I complain, after all it is only a decade; and what’s a decade among friends, right? Yeah, yeah, I know, “ya gotta have blind faith!”

The unknown author of Matthew writes that Jesus was born when Herod was king and of course, alive ― about 4 B.C.E. ± .

“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king...” (Matthew 2:1 KJV)

The Matthew tale even goes so far to tell of ol’ Joe and Mary scooping up the baby Jesus and running to Egypt to escape Herod.  Supposedly they stayed in Egypt until Herod died. To prove this, Matthew claims that Archelaus, Herod’s son, was the ruler of Judaea when the holy family returned from Egypt.

“... when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.

But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither:...” (Matthew 2:19-20; 22 KJV)

OK, so now we know, from the very first book of the Christian “holey babble” that Herod was King when Jesus was born. Let us turn forward to the “gospel” (good news?) of Luke.

The unknown author of Luke, as usual, directly contradicts the Matthew account. Luke claims that Jesus was born when Cyrenius was governor of Syria, which did not take place until at least ten years after Herod’s death. Let’s take a look:

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. (Luke 2:1-5 KJV)

We know the rest of the story ― the pregnant Mary soon dropped the baby Jesus in the manger/stable/cave etc. Presto Chango ― Abracadabra! Now Jesus is born when “Cyrenius was governor.”  Did you see the smoke and mirrors, the magic take place?

OOPS! Another new testament lie ― more distorted history. But what-the-heck, it is all for a good cause huh ― to get people to believe in the new dead man-god ― Invisible Man in the Sky. YOU ARE NOT STUPID! DON’T BE A SUCKER! THINK!

Josephus wrote of this census and said that it was quite some time after Herod’s death. Josephus records Archelaus reigning ten years before being banished to Vienna. Cyrenius was then appointed governor of Syria to conclude the affairs of Archelaus.

“But in the tenth year of Archelaus’s government, both his brethren, and the principal men of Judaea and Samaria, not being able to bear his barbarous and tyrannical usage of them, accused him before Caesar...Whereupon Caesar, when he heard it, was very angry, and...both banished him, and appointed Vienna, a city of Gaul, to be the place of his habitation, and took his money away from him.” (Antiquities, 17 13:2)

”...So Archelaus’s country was laid to the province of Syria; and Cyrenius, one that had been consul, was sent by Caesar to take account of people’s effects in Syria, and to sell the house of Archelaus.” (Antiquities, 17 13:5)

Josephus continues, recording that Cyrenius took a census of Judaea at this time.

“Now Cyrenius, a Roman senator...came at this time into Syria, with a few others, being sent by Caesar to...take an account of their substance...Cyrenius came himself into Judaea, which was now added to the province of Syria, to take an account of their substance, and to dispose of Archelaus’s money; but the Jews, although at the beginning they took the report of a taxation heinously, yet did they leave off any further opposition to it...” (Antiquities, 18 1:1)

Since Archelaus reigned for ten years after the death of Herod, this would put the time of the census at about 6 or 7 CE (at least).

Your clergy, the theologians, the apologists, and missionaries all depend on the sheeple blindly swallowing the “holy tales” ― the swill they server from the pulpits and Christian writings. They depend on your “ignorant blind faith” trust of them; that you will not take the initiative to invest the long hours of study and logic to uncover the lies ― the damn lies ― of Christianity. The church has flourished only because of this ”blind faith” trust, fueled by people’s own laziness.

Realize that those manipulating your heart and mind are making their living by doing that to you. They have a vested interest in keeping you in blind faithmoney flowing into their coffers. IT IS THEIR JOB! Rebel, break free, THINK! GET MAD!  Do as the newsman Howard Beale in the 1976 movie, Network!

“All I know is that first, you’ve got to get mad. You’ve got to say, ‘I’m a human being! My life has value!’

So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell, ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!!’ “

Regain control of your mind, heart and life!

“Don’t take this anymore!”
