PAUL TOLD THE OT (Original
Text) WAS INSPIRED BY GOD
By Hugh Fogelman
According to the Christian’s New Testament, Paul
and Peter both agreed that God inspired the Hebrew Scriptures. When
Christians are asked where does it say the New Testament was/is "inspired"
by God Himself, they proudly point to; "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God." (Paul’s writing in 2 Timothy 3:16)
You should know that when Paul penned “all Scripture is
given by the inspiration of God” ("God-breathed") the New Testament had not yet been written. Paul was referring only to the Hebrew Bible.
The Christian New International Version Study
Bible (NIV) [spin city] conjures up
this explanation, "When Paul wrote 2 Timothy 3:16 he affirms God’s
active involvement in the writing of Scripture, an involvement so powerful and
pervasive that what is written is the infallible and authoritative word of God
(see 2 Peter 1:20-21 and notes)."
Let’s see what Peter had to say. Remember that
Peter was supposedly one of Jesus’ favorite disciples, who supposedly was
personally taught by Jesus and walked and slept with him all the way. Yet Peter
only wrote three chapters in this one book of his experiences and did not go
into details of any events.
"Above all,
you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s
own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but
men spoke from God" (2 Peter
The NIV associates this to the
"transfiguration" that Peter was supposedly witnessed, yet only wrote
perhaps two sentences on that very important so-called Godly event.
A very important question needs to be answered.
That event, the "transfiguration," happened long before any of Paul’s
writings, so Paul had no idea of what Peter wrote supposedly about it 60 or
more years later. The question is, why is Paul’s writing associated to events
that he had no knowledge of?
Think for yourself, if Paul had knowledge of the
"transfiguration, he should/would have mentioned it, but he did not. Why?
Because Paul had no idea of that event.
What is important is that Peter (2 Peter 1:20-21)
acknowledged what Jews have known for over 3,300 years―that their prophets indeed had God’s will and interpretation
and God’s-breath in the Hebrew prophecies. Peter just confirmed that, a lesson that all Christians
should learn.
Yes,
it was the Hebrew Scriptures (the Original Text – the SOURCE) that were
inspired by God Himself―not the nu TESTament. ALWAYS REMEMBER:
“If there arise among you a prophet, or a
dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass,
whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast
not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken
unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your
God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart
and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 13:1-3 (KJV)
